Transport Maritime logistics system is a well-directed and well-established system for the organization of cargo delivery. The logistics chain includes storage, distribution and transportation of goods. Logistics specialists (logisticians) provide legal and documentary support of goods.

The prerogative of Maritime logistics is the transportation of goods by sea. This method of transportation is the most suitable for the delivery of large-sized overweight cargo over long distances. Features of Maritime logistics are as follows: Transportation by sea is carried out by means of special vessels or containers. If the volume of transported cargo is very large, it is more expedient to hire a separate vessel. As for containers, they are more suitable for multimodal transport, as well as delivery of cargoes.
Sea transportation of certain goods is economically more profitable than transportation by other methods. Transportation of cargo in large quantities reduces the cost thereof several times.

Routes of water type are very flexible – at their formation there is no need of binding to any roads. This type of delivery is easy to predict.
Water transportation is quite safe, containers provide full safety of cargo. Most logistics companies carry out insurance of transported goods.
Selection of containers intended for transportation of goods is carried out taking into account the type and size of the latter. The following types of containers can be provided: tankers-for liquid cargo, bulk containers-for, for example, grain or sand, refrigerated containers-for transportation of perishable goods, etc.
The process of transportation of goods by sea is controlled throughout the period. In parallel, the safety of transported goods is monitored.
Difference of sea logistics from land.

Maritime logistics has a number of rather specific features that distinguish it from land logistics. A set of actions that ensures the safety of cargo delivery by sea from the point of departure to the final destination, contains the following stages:

Registration of the package of documents necessary for this cargo, including export documents and documents confirming the safety of the transported cargo. The latter will be requested by the port services.
Selection of suitable containers corresponding to the nature and dimensions of the transported goods. The use of container type of transportation greatly facilitates the process of transshipment of goods to vehicles of various types.
After all the above, the advantages of Maritime logistics are very obvious.
